9th Dans for Liam (Billy) Brennan and Mike Dinsdale

Two EKF Board Members, Mike Dinsdale and Liam (Billy) Brennan, have both recently been honoured with the award of Kudan (9th Dan)

Mike Dinsdale was attending the BKF International Open tournament in Edinburgh when he was called forward by the BKF President, Roger Williams, to receive his award. It was a complete surprise to Mike, and thoroughly deserved. Mike has worked tirelessly for the EKF (England) BKF, EKF (European) and WKF for many years, and is the WKF representative to the English and British Karate Federations.

A similar situation arose for Billy Brennan who was awarded his grade by the Chief Instructor of EKKA, Mick Blackwell, at their summer camp. It was a surprise to Billy when it happened and he was even more surprised to turn around and see the EKF President, Mick Billman, standing there holding his 9th Dan certificate. Billy is the highest ranking referee in the UK and is a member of the EKF Board. Billy was also awarded his Gold badge at the Junior and Cadet World Championships in Tenerife in recognition of 20 years service to the WKF Referees department.

Congratulations to both Mike and Billy.
