40th EKF Junior & Cadet Championships & -21 Cup, Konya, Turkey

To all EKF members, families and supporters,

By now I am sure you are aware of the splendid performance of the England Team in the recent European Junior and Cadet Championships and Under 21 Cup. We have won 2 Gold, 2 Silver and 4 Bronze Medals, placing England 2nd on the medals table behind the hosts, Turkey.

We have also made history with 2 kata Golds and a place in a Team Kata final. The work of National Kata Coach, Jonathan Mottram, has really driven these successes.

I have received innumerable messages from Karate federations around the world and what they are saying is generally the same: congratulations and good to see England back in it's rightful place as one of the foremost Karate nations.

All these young people doing so well at such a high level is indicative of the strength of Karate in this country. This is very encouraging for the future and we need to continue to develop all this talent.

My gratitude, on behalf of the EKF Board, goes to Jonathan, National Kumite Coach, Willie Thomas, the Assistant Coaches, Physio, Mo Surdar, and the chaperones for their work and support. That gratitude also goes out to the parents, whose support makes all this possible.

I am sure you will join me in congratulating the athletes on this marvelous performance. Well done England!

Carl Lindley
President EKF
