Matt Price – Assistant Northern Regional Coach

Matt Price – Assistant Northern Regional CoachMatt Price started karate in 1982. At fifteen, Matt was asked to join the KUGB Junior England Squad. His first international success came at the European Shotokan Karate Championships in Monaco 1992; he took the individual bronze and was part of the winning junior team.

By 1999 Matt was captain of the famous KUGB team and winning many national and international titles including: nine times KUGB National Champion, KUGB Grand Champion, European Individual Kumite Champion, World Team Champion, 16 x Grand Slam Kumite Champion and twice voted European Competitor of the Year. Matt was also part of the all-style men's team under Ticky Donovan OBE.

Graded 6th Dan in Japan, Matt is the national squad coach for JKS England. In 2013 Matt was runner-up at the UK Coach of the Year awards. He is a renowned instructor teaching nationally and internationally and writes for Shotokan Karate Magazine.
