Kata Squad Report

We arrived on Monday 16th March after a good flight and taken straight to our hotel which was very comfortable.  The squad rested on Monday and then did some light training on Tuesday at the Hotel. On Wednesday the whole squad Travelled by coach to the venue to do some training, it was a good session that lasted about 2 hours.

Thursday the first day of competition started with the individual Kata both Aimee Sell and John Gardiner were competing at the same time.

Aimee won her first round 4-1 against Azerbaijan, but lost the 2nd round to Belarus 5-0.  John won his opening round 5-0 against Kosovo but then lost his 2nd round to Russia 5-0. Both individuals missed out on Repêchage

The second day of competition, Friday, started with team Kata and AGAIN both Teams were competing at the same time making it difficult to watch both teams.

The Female Kata Team lost 3-2 to Macedonia, who then went on to loose for Bronze.

The Male Teem won 4-1 against Poland but in the 2nd round lost to Croatia 5-0, Croatia went on to win the Bronze medal for the second year running.

Our Kata Squad is a young Squad and were against very experienced teams but I feel our squad have a good future ahead of them.
