Konya - Athlete Success - Cheque Presentation

At the recent Junior European Karate Championships in Konya, Turkey, 7 kata and 2 kumite athletes medalled for England. This was unprecedented in English Karate with 3 individuals and 1 team making the finals plus 2 more individuals making bronze finals and medalling. It was the first time ANY country had gained medals in 6 kata categories ever setting a new record!

The medal winners were:

Female Kata Athletes

Emma Lucraft 18-21yrs European Champion

Aimee Sell 16-17yrs Silver European Medallist

Junior Female team kata consisting of Aimee Sell, Natalie Payne and Melissa Williamson Silver European Medallists.

Male Kata Athletes

Kieran Nunkoo 14-15yrs European Champion

Navin Patel 16-17yrs European Bronze Medallist

Alex Gardner 18-21yrs European Bronze Medallist.

Congratulations to the Kumite athletes.

Jamaal Otto 16-17yrs European Bronze Medallist +76kgs

Pippa Morris 18-21yrs European Bronze -60kgs.

All athletes were presented with cheques under the new Elite Athlete Reward Scheme at the English National Championships and at National Squad Training.
