COACH PROFILES

Juliette Toney

When did you start karate and why?
Started Karate in summer 1982 with the Association called BASKA and the style was Renshinkai – famous red gi’s. My club was called Dame Colet House Karate Club, based on the fact that we trained in this building on a Monday and Friday. I started after I had watched for 2 whole years (as I thought that my parents couldn’t afford to pay for the training fees), and a friend of the family paid for me and Jillian to take a course of introductory lessons. I loved every minute of it (both just watching and training) and hardly missed a session nor was late :-D. Then my Mum realised that I loved it so much that she continued to support me and Jillian financially.
